kelas dah mula.....

The new semester has begun! adusss......kelam kabut sikit this week, signing the add/drop forms for students. Yesterday I had my 1st class with a grp of 55 Masters students - from various fields and countries. There are a few students from Libya, Jordan, Yemen, Palestine, Saudi etc..... even the locals are a good mix of southerners and northeners. Sad to say, I have no choice but to request the class to be divided into two classes. It's not conducive for learning at a Masters level....with too many in a class...... not sure how the admin will handle the split, but hope it won't cause too much heartaches.....

whilst on the topic of children.....my youngest and only daughter, Ameerah.....she's about seven & a half years of age. i realised that there's sumthin' not quite normal when she still did not walk or talk well when she was two. but her doctor said it's normal....just slow..... dia jalan pun bila dah umur 3 thn when we were in Perth. dia tak makan solid food until she's 5+. lepas hantar ke tadika, her teacher realised it too. She arranged for her to be assessed....... and that's when we found out that she has intellectual diability. she may be about 8 now, but her intellectual ability is less than half her age i.e. around 3 years of age. we were distraught....... she had to stop going to school. getting her into a special school in perth was not easy...... after more than a year of fight, she was accepted at Carson St Primary School for special kids. i tell you, it's the best thing ever for her. the teachers were soooooo......friendly, so welcoming, so understanding, so kind, so gooooddddd....... she was in a class under Ms. Rose Linton [a very, very, very caring, warm and responsible teacher, with 5 other kids like her. they had a day for horse riding, swimming, speech therapy, physiotherapy etc..... a schoolbus fetched her from home and sent her back after school - for freeeee!!! the support system was sooooo good....... but then it's time to come home. after 8 months, she's still at home. our special education system rejects her because she can't take care of herself, specifically she's not yet toilet-trained! Just becoz of that?!! Why the hell do they call it special education? Our special education system has to change if we really want to be a developed country! we can see that our disabled communities are not really well taken care of here. there's a lot that can be done, but it must start from the school, from when they are small/young. not here, disabled are like a nuisance to our system..... how can that be.... that's so saddening!!!!

bowling?

Agaknya dah lama tak bawa anak2 keluar. Yesterday they begged me to take them bowling with their cousins...... lepas confirm dgn my sisters, we went to Sentosa bowling alley. dah le pulak depa ada tournament. Frust menonggeng le budak2 tu. Pun begitu, since dah jadi pengunjung biasa kat situ, they let us played a few rounds before the tournament. Tak puas main, the children persuaded us to take them to the bowling alley at the Star Parade. They played until 11 pm! Gosh.... kita yang penat tengok....

Lots to do

Hari ni agak kelam kabut.....lots to do.....nak siapkan 3 bab pertama tesisku sebab supervisors nak next week. Adusssss....... but I'm determined to do it....I must complete this long, challenging journey. Dah banyak sacrifices from those I love. I just need continuous "push"...... almaklum la dah "maghrib" baru nak belajaq. Slow la sikit processor ni......
